Academic & Research Commons
ARC Mission Statement:
The ARC is a collaborative partnership among the Brooks Library, the Learning Commons, and Career Services. The ARC offers research assistance, career counseling, and peer tutoring in a technologically interactive study space. The ARC provides a safe space for students to explore and make learning connections that will allow them to achieve success at the university and in their future endeavors.
The Academic & Research Commons is, above all, a place for collaboration. To encourage collaboration, we have many different areas designed to cater to the various needs of our students, staff, and faculty. Below, you will find descriptions of these areas.
Presentation rooms and media:scapes are available in 2 hour increments and can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance by students. Faculty wishing to reserve space for classes should contact the ARC Librarian, (509) 963-2861. Reservations are required for the presentation rooms.
In collaboration, the Library, Learning Commons, and Career Services offer a variety of workshops to meet the needs of students and faculty. Complete workshop listings can be found at Library Workshops, Career Services Workshops, and SOURCE workshops. The workshops are held in the ARC and in room 152.
Math and writing consultations are peer-to-peer sessions lasting up to 50 minutes and are available for all enrolled CWU students. Research consultations match students with a librarian who will help you find resources and discuss research strategies for your next major project or paper.
The ARC is open all hours that the Brooks Library is open. However, some services are only available at specific times.
