ArtStor

ARTstor is a nonprofit digital library of more than one million images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and social sciences. Registered users can save and organize ARTstor images into groups, export image groups as a PowerPoint file for classroom presentations, or share with other users at CWU through a stable URL link. See ArtStor's Training webpage for more options.

To view / unlock a password protected folder: 

  1. Log in to your ARTstor account.
  2. In the ARTstor navigation bar, click Find > Unlock password-protected folder.
  3. A new window will appear. Enter your first name, last name, and the password provided by the folder creator.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. A confirmation message will display the name of the folder you have unlocked as well as what type of access you have been granted (Read or Write Access).
  6. Now that you are registered to the folder, you will be able to open and view its contents the same you would any other folder.
NOTE:  If you are not able to view the thumbnail images, please first check your computer for ARTStor's system requirements or contact Brooks Library.

OCLC's Catalog of Art Museum Images Online, CAMIO, is a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world, representing the collections of prominent museums. CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times. It includes images of photographs, prints, sculpture, paintings, decorative arts, drawings, costume and jewelry, textiles, architecture, digital arts, mixed media and more.  Along with a keyword search box, a helpful browse search page links you to all of these collection formats, or you can search by contributing repository.

NOTE: CAMIO is licensed for use by students, faculty, and researchers at subscribing institutions. Works of art may be used for educational and research purposes during the term of the subscription, if they are properly credited. Images may not be published or otherwise distributed.

This database provides access to funding opportunities and scholar profiles, with the ability to add your own scholar profile. PIVOT also allows you to save your searches and receive weekly alerts as new funding opportunities become available.

You must create an account and log in thereafter in order to use PIVOT. Registration and log in are in the upper right hand corner of screen. Your username must be your university email address. Previous CWU users of COS Funding Opportunities may log in with their existing COS username and password, as the accounts have been transferred over into PIVOT.

European Views of the Americas: 1493 to 1750

This database is derived from the seminal reference work European Americana: A Chronological Guide to Works Printed in Europe Relating to the Americas, 1493-1750  (the Alden-Landis bibliography). The reference work features citations of works produced in Europe that make some mention of the discovery and emerging awareness of the Americas.  It also provides a list of the libraries that own the actual work. The database also includes the Merriam-Webster Dictionary of Pre-19th Century Terms & Definitions (located above the search box).
