History: The Facilities Management Department was initially under the supervision of the Washington State Normal School Board of Trustees when the school opened in 1891. In 1910, a Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds was appointed and assumed responsibility for facilities management. During the 1920s a Business Manager replaced the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. The Facilities Management Department was organized in 1986 and included the planning division.
Contents: This collection represents almost a half-century of growth at Central Washington University . The papers and photographs document the construction and remodeling to buildings and grounds on the campus of Central Washington University . The Campus Site and Development Committee's minutes and correspondence trace the planning of the facilities department and the way in which the university committee influences the construction and modifications on campus.
