| History: | The College Elementary School was created when the old Edison School (Washington State Normal School Training School) was relocated to a new building in 1939. In 1963, the school was renamed the Amanda Hebeler Elementary School (Washington Center for Early Childhood Education). The school was closed in the spring of 1981 after budget constraints declared it expendable. |
| Contents: | The collection consists of photographic prints, slides and negatives collected and retained by the College Elementary School Office at Central Washington University from the early 20th Century until the date of its closure in the spring of 1981. The vast majority of the photographic prints and slides are of children being taught in classrooms, playing outdoors and class field trips from the 1930s until the 1980s. Included in the collection are prints and negatives of buildings and prominent faculty members of Central Washington University from the late 1950s and early 1960s, photographs of a student march for a Student Union War Memorial Building (1946) and negatives of other campus events from the 1950s and 1960s. |
