History: Daniel Bailey Ramsdell taught in the Department of History at Central Washington University from 1969 to 1996. He served chair of the History Department from 1984 to 1991 and was founder of the school’s Asian Studies Program in 1974. Professor Ramsdell received his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. His Ph.D. degree was conferred in 1961. Prior to being appointed to the faculty at Central Washington University he taught at Bowling Green State University in Ohio for several years. He retired in June of 1996.
Contents: The collection contains correspondence, memos, committee reports and newspaper clippings retained by Daniel Ramsdell, Professor of History at Central Washington University, from 1971 to 1991. The files consist of correspondence and memos relating to foreign language requirements, programs in international studies and religious studies, departmental relocation and lay-offs, the vote of no confidence regarding Provost Robert Edington in 1991, and records from the local chapter of Kappa Pi dating from 1952 to 1959.
