Title: Scrapbook.
Dates: 1948-1952
Size: 1 cubic foot.
Arrangement: Chronological.
History: The Intercollegiate Knights, Claw Chapter, was established in 1924 as a local service organization. The members of the club consisted of male students who attended Central Washington College of Education (presently Central Washington University). The club was originally known as the “Knight of the Claw” but changed titles in 1937 when it became part of the national organization of the Intercollegiate Knights. During World War II, the local chapter was inactive due to the vast number of members that left for the armed services. The club was reestablished in 1946 and sponsored formal dances, spring mixers, stag parties and banquets. The club remained a campus organization until the mid-1970s when dwindling membership caused its demise and current inactive status.
Contents: The scrapbook consists of memorabilia, newspaper clippings and photographic prints of activities sponsored by the Intercollegiate Knights, Claw Chapter, of Central Washington College of Education from 1948 to 1952. The scrapbook contains images of pie eating contests, formal dances, homecoming, club members, etc., which were collected by Ray Stebner during his college years at Central. Included in the collection are the 1952 minutes, membership list, work details and list of past “Dukes of Intercollegiate Knights” from 1929 to 1964.
