History: The Citizens for a Beautiful Community was formed as a protest group against the construction of high tension power lines and poles on the Central Washington University campus in March of 1996. The members of the organization campaigned vigorously to “stop the placement of environmentally destructive” and visually unattractive electric utility poles in Ellensburg community. The actions of the organization led to the dismantling of the utility poles in late April of 1996.
Contents: The collection contains the organizational records of the Citizens for a Beautiful Community. The records include correspondence, printed e-mails, handwritten notes, maps, newspaper clippings, press releases and photographs of the organization's activities from May of 1995 to May of 1996.
