History: Associated Women Students of Central Washington State College began as the Women’s League in 1931. The organization originally served as a women’s group that sponsored social functions on campus, such as welcoming teas for incoming freshmen, weekend outings and annual balls. In 1940, the League became affiliated with the national Associated Women Students organization and expanded its role to coordinate all women student groups on campus and “further the interests of all girls”. By the early 1970s the organization lost membership and was dissolved.
Contents: The scrapbook consists of photographs of members and activities and events sponsored by the Associated Women Students of Central Washington State College from 1964 to 1967. Included in the scrapbook is a constitution and by-laws of the organization, letters of appreciation, Christmas cards, programs and announcements of tea parties and socials and other memorabilia and ephemera retained by the organization’s historian.
