    Historical or Biographical Sketch: The Facilities Management Department was initially established under the supervision of the Washington State Normal School Board of Trustees when the school opened in 1891. In 1910, a Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds was appointed and given the responsibility for facilities management of the campus. During the 1920s, a Business Manager replaced the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds consolidating departments. The Facilities Management Department was reorganized in 1986 and included the planning division.

    Scope and Content Note: The collection consists of correspondence, construction plans, building specifications, contracts, agreements, studies, reports and historical information on buildings and grounds upon the Ellensburg campus of Central Washington University from 1907 to 1986. The majority of the files within the collection are from 1926 to 1968. The collection contains records on building proposals, evaluations, estimates, drawings and repairs. Included in the records are demolition plans, dedications, meeting minutes of the Memorial Committee (1939-1941) and the Student War Memorial Building Committee (1944-1947).
