Historical or Biographical Sketch: The College Elementary School was created when the old Edison School (Washington State Normal School Training School) was relocated to a new building in 1939. In 1963, the school was renamed the Amanda Hebeler Elementary School (Washington Center for Early Childhood Education). The school was closed in the spring of 1981 after budget constraints declared it expendable.

Scope and Content Note: The collection consists of reports, correspondence and newsletters created or received by the Training School at Washington State Normal School or the College Elementary School of Central Washington College of Education from 1907 to1976. The collection contains curriculum summary reports (1928-1959), reports from the elementary school library and nursery (1940-1967), Annual Reports of the Training School Program (1929-1946) and the Edison School Newsletter (1919-1924). Included in the collection are correspondence from college Presidents W. E. Wilson (1908) and Robert E. McConnell (1933-1961), building contract for Edison Hall (1907), blueprints, drawings, purchase receipts and newspaper clippings for Hebeler Hall (1937-1979) and miscellaneous reports and ephemera on the activities of the College Elementary School.
