Historical or Biographical Sketch: The Office of Business and Financial Affairs at Central Washington University was established in 1970 as a division of the Business Office. From 1933 to 1969, business and financial duties were administered by the Business Manager. Prior to 1933, the school hired an accountant to supervise the financial activities of the institution. Scope and Content Note: The collection consists of account ledgers, cashbooks and daybooks created and maintained by the Bursar or Business Manager of the Washington State Normal School and Central Washington College of Education from 1893 to 1956. The ledgers contain the daily cash expenditures and receipts, funds appropriated by the State and the detailed finances of the school. Included in the collection are financial records documenting student activities, dormitory and library fees paid by students. Research Note: Open to the public for educational research.
