Historical or Biographical Sketch: The ADCO identifies, discusses, and influences issues that affect the faculty of the university and the academic units to which they belong. The group provides consultation and recommendations to the Provost and other individuals and university organizations. They interact with other university groups and professional organizations in order to enhance the efficient and effective operation of the academic units. Officers consist of a chair and a secretary. The chair calls meetings, establishes an agenda for each meeting, circulates the agenda, and attends the Deans’ Council as a representative of the organization; the secretary maintains and circulates minutes. Each school or college of the university has one representative on the Executive Committee. Scope and Content Note: The collection consists of meeting minutes from the Academic Department Chairs Organization, correspondence relating to issues on the meeting agendas, and supplementary handouts relating to items on the agendas. Research Note: Open to the public for educational research.
