Locating Articles
How can I locate journal articles at CWU?
To locate journals and articles owned by CWU, users are encouraged to use the electronic databases. Many of these databases are full-text. If accessing from a remote computer, users will be prompted to enter their last name and University ID number. For more information about accessing resources off-campus, please see the Remote Access and Login Help page.
Due to licensing agreements and other legal issues, users may not be able to link to the full-text of an article. This guide will help you locate available online full-text. If no full-text is available, it will walk you through the process to request a copy from another location.
(a) Proquest Databases
If you have searched in a Proquest database and the article you want is not available as HTML or PDF, you may find a citation that looks like this:

By clicking on the title of the article, you will find a screen that looks similar to this:

(b) EBSCOhost Databases
If you have searched in an EBSCOhost database and the article you want is not available as HTML or PDF, you may find a citation that looks like this:

(c) CSA Illumina Databases
If you have searched in a CSA Illumina database and the article you want is not available as HTML or PDF, you may find a citation that looks like this:

Please follow the procedures below to most effectively check all available sources:
STEP 1. Searching Other Journal Databases
Click on the link that says Search for Full Text. This will search all of CWU's online full-text subscriptions. You may get a screen that looks like this:

IF NO HOLDINGS WERE FOUND FOR THIS JOURNAL, that means that CWU does not have full-text electronic access at this time.
STEP 2. Searching CATTRAX, CWU's Online Catalog
Click on either the Search by Title or Search by ISSN links to search the CWU Library Catalog for a print copy of the journal. The display will look similar to these two examples:
Example #1

Example #2

Look for Lib. has or LIB. HAS to find out what volumes are available in the Resource Centers.
STEP 3. Requesting articles
If you are not at either the CWU-Des Moines or CWU-Lynnwood Resource Centers, or the article you want is not available at those Resource Centers, click on the link in the menu that says Request. This is a link to ILLiad, the library's Inter-Library Loan request form. (Remember you need to create an ILLiad account to request articles.)
If the article is available at the CWU Main Library, Inter-Library Loan will scan the article and make it electronically available from your ILLiad account. Users are notified via their university email (Groupwise) account with a link to the item.
If the article is not available at the CWU Main Library, Inter-Library Loan will request the item from another library for you. Users will be notified via their university email (Groupwise) account with either a link to the item or confirmation of a USPS delivery.
