Internet Use Policy for Government Information

Although computers throughout Brooks Library can be used to connect to the Internet, two workstations in the Documents, Maps and Microforms Department (on the third floor) are set-up specifically to access online Federal Government information provided through the Federal Depository Library Program.

  • Hardware and software on these workstations meets or exceeds current Recommended Specifications for Public Access Workstations in Federal Depository Libraries. In addition, no filtering software has been loaded and printing is available.
  • A password is required for access. Users without campus computer accounts will need to be logged on by staff at the Documents Reference Desk.
  • Assistance with locating online government resources is available, but other uses of these workstations are not supported. Users may be asked to limit their sessions if other patrons are waiting to access government information.
  • All users of computer workstations in the Documents, Maps and Microforms Department are expected to comply with the Policy for the Use of Library Public Computers for Brooks Library.
