Faculty: Open Educational Resources for Your Classes

Faculty, are you in the middle of preparing for fall? Consider incorporating free, open education resources, including books and textbooks, into your course to help your students save money.

We've compiled a few suggested starting points:

  • OER Commons - Public digital library of open educational resources for all education levels

  • OpenStax - Peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks

  • Google Books - Index of full-text books

  • Washington 45 - List of open textbooks and course materials for courses selected from within the general education categories for Washington state colleges and universities

  • Project Gutenberg - Over 60,000 free eBooks

  • Open SUNY Textbooks - Open access textbook publishing initiative established by State University of New York libraries

  • Directory of Open Access Journals - Online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals

  • ScholarWorks - CWU's own institutional repository showcasing scholarly and creative output of members of the university community
