General Information
Library-Media Circulation(LMC), located on the first floor of the Brooks Library, maintains and circulates the VHS video, DVD video, and 16MM film collection of this library. Faculty members may recommend media purchases to their Library Liaisons. Students may check out films and videos. Anyone can view films and videos in the Library at Library Media Circulation. LMC also has space available for viewing our collection here. The Media Center also checks out laptops for us in the Library.

Searching for Films, Videos, and DVDs
All materials in the media collection are in the Library Online Catalog. Begin your search there, or ask for assistance at the Media Circulation Desk and someone will be happy to help you.
- Title Search
- If you already know the title of the moving image material you are looking for, enter your title words at the Title Search page of the online catalog.
- Author Search:
- Directors, actors, screenwriters, producers, and narrators are considered authors, so you can search from the Author Search page search to find moving image materials by their various creators.
- Keyword Search
- Choose the Keyword Search when you do not know a title (or are unsure of it) or you want to see if there are any holdings on a topic you are researching.
- Enter your search term(s) in the top box(es)
- Click on the Material Type dropdown box
- Choose AV MEDIA from the dropdown list.
- Click on the Submit button to run your search
- Your search results will consist only of VHS videos, DVD videos, and 16MM films.
- Subject Search
- You can search for materials using a Library of Congress Subject Search, but the results will be mixed with other formats until you limit the search.
- When you get your initial set of search results choose the Limit/Sort Search button at the top of the screen.
- Click on the Material Type dropdown box
- Choose AV MEDIA from the dropdown list.
- Click on the Submit button to run your search.
- Browsing by Accession Number
- To bring up a list of our entire collection of DVDs, films, or VHS items:
- Click on the Accession Number Search link.
- Enter DV (for DVDs), VT (for videotapes), or FM (for 16MM filmstrips) into the search field.
- Click on the Search button and you will get a browsable display of items.
Locating materials
- Once you have found the item you want to borrow in Cattrax, bring the Call number of the item and your Connection Card to the Media Circulation desk on the first floor of the Brooks Library.
- All call numbers for moving image materials begin with either VT for VHS videotapes, DV for DVD discs, or FM for 16MM films.
- 16MM films can only be checked out by CWU faculty members for classroom use, but they can be viewed in the Media Circulation area.

Browse the most recent list of all videos (VHS/DVD) that have been added to our online catalog, Cattrax, in the last month. This list automatically updates on the first day of each month.
