- Reference librarians are available to help you with your research. Call up the form in your web browser to submit a question. Questions are read and answered on a daily basis. You must be a member of the CWU community to use this service. You may also call the main campus Library Reference Desk at 509.963.1021 for help, or our toll free telephone number (800.290.3327)for long distance callers who need Reference assistance.
- Circulation
- The Circulation Department offers a wide variety of services including but not limited to: the check out of library materials; access to Course Reserves; information on renewals of materials and fines for overdue materials; and the check out and return of materials requested via the Summit Service. Circulation Department staff and supervisors can also assist with problems concerning your student library account. You may view your library account to create a PIN, renew materials online, check for overdue items, and check on the status of Summit Service requests. Circulation staff can help you if you have questions about your library account.
- Course Reserves by Course
- Search and locate reserve materials by course name / number. These are materials assigned by professors that may be checked out from the Circulation Desk for a 2 hour loan period.
- Course Reserves by Professor, Lecturer, or Instructor Name
- Search by name of faculty member to locate reserve materials. As immediately above, may be checked out from the Circulation Desk for a 2 hour loan period.
- Instruction
- These pages provide links to web sites, assignments and materials available via the Brooks Library web site related to a) University 101 Library Skills; and b) developing research skills.
- Interlibrary Loan
- Use Brooks Library's Interlibrary Loan service to obtain materials not held by the Brooks Library, including books and photocopies of periodical articles. For books you must a) search the Library Catalog (Cattrax) to see if the Library owns the item; and if we do not have the title you need b) search the Summit Catalog to see if you may request the book from one of the 30+ Summit academic libraries in Washington and Oregon. If you need to obtain copies of periodical articles, first search the Library Catalog (Cattrax) to see if the Library subscribes to the journal, magazine or newspaper, and then browse or search our Electronic Journals Collection to see if you have online access to the periodical.
- Laptops
- Laptops are available at Media Circulation for checkout and use in the Library for up to two (2) hours by currently enrolled CWU students only. Includes information on using personal laptops in the library.
- New Books, Music Recordings, and Video (VHS/DVD) in the Library
- Consult this list to see a comprehensive list of all materials that have been added recently to Cattrax, the Library Online Catalog. This list automatically updates on the first day of each month.
- Search Library Web Site
- Use this internal search engine to search only the Brooks Library's web pages. This search will not directly retrieve the full text of periodical articles. To locate the full text of articles try searching online resources from our Databases by Title page, or try browsing our Electronic Journals Collection.
- Turnitin.com Information
- For CWU Teaching Faculty - this service allows you to check papers for possible plagiarism.
