Cultural Conversations

January 21, 2019

Hal Holmes Community Center (201 Ruby Street, Downtown)

A diverse community is a respectful community, rich in ideas and shared experiences. Cultural Conversations is a new program co-sponsored by Brooks Library, the Ellensburg Public Library, and CWU’s Office for International Studies & Programs. It is an opportunity to hear different views, to practice empathetic listening and speaking, to learn a new culture through storytelling, and explore deep and relevant topics together. Light refreshments provided. Free and open to all.

Meet our Storyteller: Anahi Chavez Villegas

Anahí is currently a first year graduate student in Biology at Central Washington University. She will share her story as a dual-citizen born and educated in El Paso, Texas and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.  She will address the unique challenges she frequently encounters, such as straddling two different cultures, and clarifying cultural misperceptions.
