Library Administration

Central Washington University welcomes Rebecca Lubas as the Dean of  Libraries.

Lubas has served as associate dean of the library at The Claremont Colleges, in California, since 2014 and prior to that was director of discovery, acquisitions, and consortial services and associate professor at the University of New Mexico and head of cataloging and metadata services at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“I’m excited to join CWU,” Lubas said. “The energy in the library and care for the CWU community shined through all my encounters during my visit. I’m looking forward to working with the library and CWU leadership to provide ever greater services for our students.”

Lubas holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame, an MLIS from Louisiana State University, and an MA in English from Ball State University. She is editor of Practical Strategies for Cataloging Departments, co-editor of Practical Strategies for Academic Library Managers, and co-author of The Metadata Manual and The Complete Guide to Acquisitions Management.


About Brooks Library

Central Washington University’s Brooks Library is located in the northwest corner on campus.  Built in 1973, the third library in the University’s history, Brooks Library, with the branch libraries located at the University Centers in Des Moines and Lynnwood, supports the students and faculty in their academic and research needs.

The Libraries’ vision statement describes in part, “the Central Washington University libraries will be the hub and academic town square of the University by being an essential component of the academic and creative life of the institution.”
