Central Washington University’s James E. Brooks Library is located in the northwest corner of the Ellensburg campus. Built in 1973, the third library in the University’s history, the James E. Brooks Library, along with the branch libraries located in Des Moines and Lynnwood, supports students and faculty in their academic and research endeavours.
Consult our floor maps for the locations of our service desks, computer lab, study rooms, and more.
A permit is required for the parking lot adjacent to the library (lot P-8) year-round, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Daily permits are available for purchase at the dispenser in the lot. The permit must be displayed with the printed information clearly visible on the driver side front windshield in order to be valid. Please refer to CWU's Parking Services for the most up-to-date information about parking on campus.
Family Study Space
Enrolled students with young children are invited to use the Family Study Space (FSS) located on the first floor in the Academic and Research Commons. In addition to child-friendly furniture, the space offers a selection of circulating children’s books, learning manipulatives, and creative play space. Children must be supervised at all times. Please note: In support of the health and well-being of the CWU community, the FSS will remain closed for the winter 2020 quarter.
